Portrety robię.

Jestem nagradzanym fotografem. Fotografuję w studio i na lokacjach. Czasami wymyślam projekty konceptualne lub serie dokumentalne związane z jakimś konkretnym miejscem, zjawiskiem lub grupą społeczną. Rzeczy, które mnie interesują przetwarzam na sferę wizualną. Człowiek jest jednak zawsze najważniejszy, nawet jeśli go tam na pierwszy rzut oka nie widać.

Często pracuję z artystami. Portretuję muzyków, aktorów, pisarzy, malarzy i innych twórców. Robię edytoriale dla prasy, portrety narracyjne i subiektywne materiały reklamowe. Z moich dłuższych wyjazdów (Azja Centralna, Afryka, peryferia Europy) zazwyczaj przywożę jakiś materiał. Opowiadam w ten sposób historie.

Opublikowałem trzy książki, z których Balkan Playground był nominowany do najlepszych książek fotograficznych na GPP w 2018 roku. Zdobyłem pierwsze miejsce w kategorii portret na takich konkursach jak Grand Press Photo, BZ WBK Press Photo czy Eisa Maestro Award.

Sesja portretowa to zderzenie dwóch energii – osoby fotografowanej i fotografującego. Staram się jak najmniej przeszkadzać. Chciałbym żeby aparat był niewidoczny. Twarz bohatera jest wszystkim, co mam dane podczas sesji, staram się wydobyć charakter osoby portretowanej. Przez lata wykształciłem unikalny styl portretowy. Piękno nie jest dla mnie kategorią fotograficzną. Czasem ważniejsza jest prawda, ulotny moment, a czasem chodzi o emocje. Nie pokazanie czegoś bywa wymowniejsze niż pokazanie wszystkiego. Niektórzy mówią, że do moich portretów trzeba dorosnąć – co najmniej jakbym widział przyszłość osób portretownych – nazywam to ‘wrastaniem w portret.’

Moje prace znajdują się w kolekcjach prywatnych i były pokazywane na wystawach w kraju i za granicą. Magazyn Art Verseed zaliczył mnie do grona 5 europejskich fotografów, których warto obserwować.

I do portraits.

I’m an award-winning photographer who works both in the studio and on location. At times, I come up with conceptual projects or documentary series related to specific places, phenomena or social groups. I’m particularly interested in translating my interests to the visual realm, with a focus on people, even if they’re not immediately apparent.

I work with artists, capturing portraits of musicians, actors, writers, painters and other creators. My work ranges from editorials for the press and narrative portraits to subjective advertising materials. From my extensive travels, which include Central Asia, Africa and the outskirts of Europe, I bring back materials that allow me to tell compelling stories.

I’ve published three books, with one of them, “Balkan Playground”, being nominated for the best photographic book at GPP in 2018. I’ve also won top prizes in portrait categories at prestigious competitions like Grand Press Photo, BZ WBK Press Photo, and the Eisa Maestro Award.

During portrait sessions, I aim to capture the energy exchange between the subject and myself. I strive to be unobtrusive, letting the camera fade into the background. For me, the subject’s face is everything during a session, and my goal is to reveal their character. Over the years, I’ve developed a unique portrait style, where beauty takes a back seat to truth, fleeting moments and emotions. Sometimes, what is left unsaid speaks louder than what is clearly stated. Some argue that understanding my portraits requires maturity, suggesting that I have insight into the subjects’ future. I call this process ‘growing into the portrait’.

My work is held in private collections and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. I’ve been recognized as one of the five European photographers worth following by Art Verseed magazine.

My studio is located in Bochnia near Kraków.
